Call for the delay of Ofsted’s disastrous proposals

Ofsted causes more harm than good, and we need urgent and fundamental reform.

In September, the new Labour government promised change – the abolition of single-word judgements was an acknowledgement that Ofsted just isn’t working. It’s an unreliable, toxic inspectorate and radical reform is needed.

However, since the announcement of Ofsted’s consultation into its inspection framework, and despite the sector’s best efforts, there has been little meaningful attempt at resolving ongoing systemic issues that cause catastrophic harm to education staff.

Ofsted’s proposed reforms will make the new system even less reliable, and the lack of any plan to create an independent, robust complaints and appeals process for schools is a huge concern.

We urge you to write to your MP today, urging them to call on the Education Secretary to delay the roll out of Ofsted’s proposed reforms and work with the profession to create a new system – one that is supportive, effective and fair.
